Norfolk Mermaid

If you go anywhere in Norfolk, you’re going to see one of these beautiful art pieces. I always thought about what I’d do if I ever got the chance to paint one, but I never actually thought it would happen.

And then my brother out law (because my man and I aren’t married, his family are my out laws) ended up with a Norfolk mermaid. He asked me to paint her. I cannot even begin to express how happy and honored I am to have this chance.

Before I started, I went to a home improvement store to grab some paint and a fish net (I’m not going to say the name because I’m not trying to get myself or the guy that helped me in trouble because I ain’t no snitch). I got all my paints but the closest thing to fish nets they sold were like 200×200 feet. I asked a guy who worked there for help. I told him I dont need alllllllll that shit. He asked what it was for and I told him proudly I was painting a Norfolk mermaid. He was stoked, duh. We talked about that for a few. I told him my plan, then pointed at a fish net bag in another aisle holding some stuff for plants and said “If you guys have anything like this, that’d be perfect. That’s exactly what I need”. He looked at what I pointed to, took out the stuff in the bag, rolled up the net, handed it to me, smiled and said “Put it in your bag”. Shout out to that sweet man for being so nice and helpful ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿฝ

Fast forward to beginning the painting process. I felt weird covering someone else’s art work. I kind of felt like I was disrespecting something but after I put on the layer of primer I was over that.

I cannot wait to start really painting this sexy lady.
